Time to read: 3 minutes

Hello there! In our shiny new feature, we are diving deeper into the many talented people in our team. We hope their stories will bring you a little closer into our world and show you what really makes Excite Media tick.

In this instalment, we feature our Manager of Operations, Chris Taylor.

Having started with Scott and Nathanael on Day One of the company over 14 years ago, Chris is deeply woven into the fabric of Excite Media. His knack for brutal practicality and efficiency has set the tone for everything we do here. Always the first to put up his hand to help out, Chris’ dedication and attention to detail are second to none.

We hope you enjoy our interview with him.

We know you love Excite Media, but where is your other favourite place to be?

Either sitting with a bevvy at a live AFL game OR on the beach with the family, watching the kids playing in the water & sand.

What’s the most important life lesson you’ve learned so far?

If you don’t take good care of yourself, you won’t be able to take good care of others.

What’s your pet hate?

Bad drivers.  Nuff said.

What brought you to Excite Media?

Proud to say I’ve been here since minute one of day one as a founding team member.

Tell us more about your family.

Happily married 10 and a half years to Tash, and we have two beautiful children, Cameron – 7 and Ally  – 4. We also have a little fur-child, our miniature fox terrier – Buckles.

Buckles – we assume this is related to your other obsession?

Yep, Buckles was named after Nathan Buckley – coach of the Collingwood Football Club.  Within 3 minutes of anyone meeting me, they will already have a fair idea about my obsession with AFL and Collingwood.

So when you do take a break from Excite Media, what’s your favourite holiday destination?

Tash and I have a bit of the travel bug – but we’ve timed it terribly, and aligned it with having two small children who make it tough to travel overseas!  Having said that, we’ve managed to sneak in a few trips to the USA. The highlights so far have been New York, Hawaii, and Vegas. In fact… I’ve now been to Vegas 3 times… and there is definitely no intention of that count stopping at 3.

And what about inside Australia.  What’s your favourite holiday destination?

A few years back I went on a boy’s trip to Fraser Island, and it was the most amazing four days.  It’s crazy to think that a place like this is right on our doorstep! Also, last year we had an amazing family holiday to Hamilton Island – it was the second time Tash and I had been there, but showing the kids what exists in this beautiful country when you finally get out of Brisbane was an experience like no other.

OK, some quick-fire questions to finish off….

Apple or Android?  Apple all the way
Favourite food?  Fried rice
Go-to beverage?  Love a beer, or a gin and tonic
Favourite season?  It’s tough… I LOVE summer for the hot beach weather… but there is no football!! I’m just not going to answer that one.
